The Potomac River Sailing Association will organize the
President’s/Leukemia Cup Regatta on the Potomac River from the Washington
Sailing Marina in
1.2 These races will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.

ELIGIBILITY
2.1 All class-legal boats in one-design classes 20’ or under are invited to participate. Classes of 5 or more boats will be started separately. Classes of fewer than 5 boats may be combined with another class.

3 ENTRY FEES
Lower course classes (1 day of racing)

These fees include the dinner & party on Sunday that is donated by Guest Services at the Washington Sailing Marina on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Competitors are also encouraged to solicit and make charitable contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support their vital work. See 9.2 - 9.4 below.
4 SCHEDULE OF RACES
Lower course classes -- 6 races are planned Sunday 1100 Skipper’s meeting TBD First warning signal on the lower course; consecutive races follow. 1630-2000 Party (provided by Guest Services & Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) & awards NOTE: Party will start immediately following races.

6 VENUE
6.1
The Washington Sailing Marina is located just off of the George Washington
Parkway about 1.5 miles south of Reagan National Airport and a similar
distance north of Old Town Alexandria. The street address for Internet

6.2 Upper course: Classes scheduled to sail for 1 day will sail off of Haines Point (with the Capitol and monuments as a backdrop).
Lower course: Classes scheduled to sail for 1 day (Penguins, El Toros, Lasers and other small boats) will sail off of the powerplant and only a short distance from the docks.
7 SCORING
7.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
7.2 If fewer than 6 races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. This changes RRS A2. If 6 races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
8 PRIZES
8.1 Trophies: Awards will be given to each member of the winning crews. The depth of awards will be based on the expected number of participants in each class; 4 deep for classes with 13 or more expected boats, 3 deep for 9-12 boats, 2 deep for 5-8 boats, and 1 for 2-4 boats. The expected number will be estimated based on participation in 2007 or as provided by a fleet representative to the regatta chair (this communication will have been prior to the regatta).
8.2 Sailors will also compete for the perpetual Normal C. Schaller Memorial Trophy. It is awarded to the skipper with the best record in fleets of 10 or more starters in at least half the races.

9.1 Tickets for the Saturday party are available at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society tables for $10 each or by soliciting/making contributions for $100 or more (see 9.2 below):

9.2 The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is grateful to competitors who solicit or make contributions for LLS. LLS offers the following incentives to individual fundraisers:

Multiple prizes for the top 10 individual fundraisers from across this,
the PHRF, and poker run events include
A fun prize pack will be awarded to each member of the top two fund-raising boats, that is, to the skipper and crew of the boat whose crew collectively raise the most and the second most. The Leukemia Cup will be awarded to the top fundraising boat across the PHRF Leukemia Cup Regatta and the (one design) President’s/Leukemia Cup Regatta.
9.4 National Prizes for Top Individual Fundraisers
*West Marine $2,500 Shopping Spree Drawing – All Leukemia Cup participants who raise a minimum of $500 will be eligible for 1 chance in a national drawing to win! Earn additional chances for each $500 raised (e.g. $1,000 raised = 2 entries; $1,500 raised = 3 chances, etc.). The drawing will take place during the Gary Jobson Fantasy Sail Weekend. Need not be present to win.

Cup Regatta participants who raise a minimum of $8,500 will
Sailing World Foul Weather Gear – The top overall national individual fundraiser will receive an embroidered Sailing World foul weather gear sailing jacket, courtesy of Sailing World Magazine. Jacket awarded at Fantasy Sail Weekend.
PLEASE NOTE: For each awarded prize over a $600.00 value, the Society will issue a 1099. For each awarded prize over a $5,000.00 value, the Society will collect from the winner withholding equal to 25% of the prize value and remit such to the government.
