2007 PRSA DOWNRIVER CRUISE TO FORT FOOTE
Saturday July 28

Mark your calendars for a day of fun with your fellow sailors!   Bring your friends and family and join us for a downriver cruise to Ft. Foote -- a historic national park site.  Fort Foote is named for Rear Adm. Andrew H. Foote, and was designed to protect the river entrance to the ports of Alexandria, Georgetown, and Washington during the Civil War.

See who is coming.

This year's cruise will take place on Saturday, July 28 (alternate weather date will be July 29).  We will leave the dock at Washington Sailing Marina at 11:30 a.m. and head approximately eight miles downriver where we will anchor at the park for a picnic.  Barbeques will be set up for grilling.  Volleyball and frisbee will be available for the athletically inclined.

After an afternoon of fun, we'll sail back to the marina with an estimated return time of 4:30 p.m.  There will be an escort boat should the winds not cooperate.

The tide predictions for that weekend look ideal:

    Tide             Sat                Sun
    High         7:08 AM         7:51 AM
    Low          2:43 PM        3:26 PM
    High         7:52 PM        8:30 PM

So we should have an outgoing tide from early morning to mid-afternoon as we head downriver, and an incoming tide from mid-afternoon to evening as we return.

Bring something to grill, drinks and something to share.  If you have questions or want to help, contact David Thompson Lightning Fleet 50 Captain, at 703-620-6571.

Driving Directions for those not wanting to sail:
