Winner's Write Up - 02/03/2008
Geoff Bishop

I'm surprised!! I thought Dave won the day - obviously it was very close. So here's my write up:

Sunday was a beautiful light air day for sailing in the cove once the wind filled in from the south. My success was probably due to my light weight - I'm only 145 lbs soaking wet. I also found the left side of the course to be more favorable. There was a bit more breeze over there coming down the channel. The wind to the right in the top half of the course was slower and more confused as it descended over the harbor. Although I expected the current to be a factor on the left, I did not find this to be the case.

I tried starting on both ends of the line, but had much more most success when I started with a bit of speed near the pin end of the line. I got hosed in the races I started at the committee boat and David Teale - who also sailed very fast - started at the pin end.

Many thanks to everyone on the R.C. which did an outstanding job moving the marks around when the wind shifted and kept things interesting by setting up a leeward gate for some of the races.
