| Captain's Log: Laser/Byte SPRING REGATTA |
| Jennifer Parrow |
|
After rescheduling this regatta from May to June 4th,
we were still able to have somewhat of an attendence:
10 Lasers, 1 Byte and 2 Sunfish. The wind was light
during the skippers meeting and for the first 3 races
(2-3mph?), but thankfully built to 5-6mph for the last
two races. A special thanks goes out to Jeff Stork,
Pat McGee, Amy Krafft and Kevin Majane for providing
RC for us for what had to be an uneventful day
compared to the carnage the week before. We used the
same course area - by the power plant. I myself
didn't sail, but played party hostess and had the
grill going and beer cold for the sailors that stuck
it out on a hot day with little wind. I understand
the PRO Jeff Stork was right on with the start line
and medium length sausage course. Bill K and I tested
out the new RC boat. It's a GREAT, new boat that
needs only a seat and a bimini. The party afterwards
was enjoyable and bountiful.
We gave out 5 awards to the following people:
BYTE: 2nd Place Jacob Donkersloo (looks like
practicing in a Radial works well for when you get
back on a Sunfish)
1st place Diane Gobes.
LASER: 3rd place Mike Heinsdorf (this guy sails
Albacore, yet came out and beat several people who
have been sailing Laser all year; we better toughen up
on our practices) 2nd place Adam Dubitsky (1st place
last week) and 1st place Robert Bennett. Robert was
nice enough to do a write up for us on how he won the
day, so look out for that message next.
Thanks to everyone for coming out! We will need your
support in the future to keep our fleet growing! Look
out for an update website with the rest of the results
soon!
