Keeping to the middle of the course was what I tried to do, while looking out for vortices to ride or avoid. I have not been doing that well down wind recently, so I took a page out of previous winners' guidance and kept everything looser that I have done in the past, with the result that I didn't lose places down wind. Beats were a degree of luck, though a good start (as I had in the first 2 races) certainly helps to keep clear air up the first beat. In the last race down wind I moved my weight forward about a foot half way down the leg and managed to pass one boat, so weight placement may be something I need to be more aware of.
