JULY 22 - 25, 2010:

From "Tom "OPTIGUYTOM" Coleman":

With the Opti Class National Championship in your backyard it would be a shame not to at least know about it. This should be the first choice for the best Opti regatta for your kids.
I will be running the GreenFleet (as I have for over twelve years!) and if your son/daughter can sail up and down wind, knows the very basic RRS and most importantly....WANTS to race then they will have an awesome time. Make your plans now as they are expecting well over 400, yep... four hundred youngsters racing Optis at this one event.
Oh yeah.... it's at Fishing Bay Yacht Club dues east of Richmond, July 22 - 25.

The GreenFleet is NOT just for beginners. For some of them it will be there first regatta ever, but others in the GF can beat 30% or more of the regular competitive fleet. I can help you decide where your kids would be better off, but if you have to ask.... they should probably join GF for all the learning. We also do MORE races than the other fleet.... and yes, it IS competitive, but we stress the FUN!

Check their incredible website and sign-up for updates. http://optinationals2010.org/

PRSA Opti fleet can join the Penguin fleet for a regatta and Thursday night practices. The Penguin sailboat is the perfect companion to the Opti. Similiar in design, the Penguin looks a little like an Opti, but is big enough for 2 people. For more information on this boat click here.

The Penguins will be available to pick up kids from the docks who don't own Optis. Contact John Majane or Amy Krafft for more Penguin info and our Opti group list for Opti Information.

Parents: I highly reccommend the Penguin for your family. You and your children can enjoy the benefits of PRSA together if one of you isn't ready to sail on your own.

PRSA OPTI FLEET IS UNDERWAY

PRSA host practices and races while emphasizing safety, boat handling, basic sailing, racing for beginners and confidence building. We've chosen the Optimist Dinghy as our one-design boat because it's National Organization is the largest fleet of racing kids in the US, and International Organizations can be found around the world. For more information, please visit USODA.

The standard Opti and Pram is easy to transport, store and accessorize for racing. They can be readily found new and used. Please check back for our classifieds section after we've gotten more information. For information on where to buy new boats and their costs, see:

Team Vanguard for the Vanguard Optimist and Pram (links located on the left of Vanguards' homepage).
