Fall Series #4 Results

10/07/2001

No races were completed.  It was even windier than September 30--probably another 5 knots.  Nevertheless, eight Lightning sailed: Nabeel, Paul, Rick, Drew, Ben, Steve Gregg in Wasabi, Dave, and Jim (Krest) in Black Adder.  Jeff, whose back was twitching, helped run the RC and took pictures.  Unfortunately, the course board caused confusion when the triangle slipped behind the sausage, and the first race had to be abandoned when Nabeel sailed for the leeward mark and others sail for the reaching mark.  Then the Glastron ran into motor problems as the gas ran out (water in gas).  The Robalo's sump pump wasn't working and water was sloshing over the transom.  The radios ran out of juice.  When the police asked us to please go home, John Gardner called it a day.

No one capsized and everyone was treated to the thrill of planing and gained confidence in their ability to handle the heavy air.  Back on shore we fired up the grill and cooked hot dogs and sausages and drank beer and hot chocolate.
